Springdales School, Pusa Road celebrated 54 years of its being on 1st September ’09. This year, as a continuing measure of precaution against the H1N1 virus, in order to avoid large gatherings, the celebrations were scaled down and held in the respective classrooms.The students celebrated by decorating their class rooms and parties that had it all games, scrumptious eats music and dance.Dr Rajni Kumar, Chairperson Springdales Education Society, members of the managing board and our principal gathered in the ‘Hall of Celebration’ for a get together. The birthday cake was cut amidst songs & dances. The prefect and captains presented a fashion show. The cultural items were witnessed by student representatives.

The British Council in association with the Government of India in working on a sports development initiative called ‘International Inspiration’, which focuses on ‘Education through Sports’.The main objectives are to explore how physical education and sports can be used to engage and empower young people in schools and the local community. It also aims to support primary in-service teacher training.To achieve the above, the British Council along with the Youth Sports Trust, UK , and Physical Education experts from India have developed PEC India Resources which were launched by Mr. Kapil Sibal , Minister MHRD, on 25th August 2009 .Three of our teachers – Mrs. Jyoti Kaul, Mrs. Jyoti Paul and Mrs. Seema Kapoor were involved in the pilot project and received training from the pioneers. Subsequently a two-day Teachers Training Workshop was organized at Springdales School, Pusa Road on 18th and 19th September.Teachers from Fifteen schools participated in the workshop.As a part of the event on the second day students of Std. V were given practical training using the PEC resources.The workshop was a great success.

The Delhi Schools Literacy Project organized the Literacy Week from 9th September to 19th September. Mr.Arvinder Singh Lovely, Minister of Education & Transport Government of NCT of Delhi was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory function. The school secured an overall 3rd place in the Literacy Week Competitions. In the Inter School Story and Script Writing Competition Mitali Gupta, and Vidhi Bhardwaj, won the III rd and the II nd Prize respectively in the Literacy Week 2009.
