The Annual Summer Staff Seminar on the theme - “Creating Effective Learning Spaces- Connecting the Head, Heart and Hand" was organized in our school. The theme for this seminar was chosen to reflect on our collective direction as a community.
Welcoming the guests our Principal stated that while the 21st century requires a "culture of inquiry" for lifelong learning, the ethical and value dimension of learning holds the key to real and meaningful transformation.
In her keynote address, Mrs. Aruna Roy, noted activist, made an evocative case for the need for linking education with democratic processes for the well being of all people. During the two day seminar the teachers were addressed on a range of themes like 'Understanding a Child's World: The Joy of Doing' , 'Adolescent Spaces: Emotions and Expressions', 'Educating the Whole Child' by eminent speakers like Mrs. Getanjali Kumar (Counselor), Dr. Samir Parikh (Chief of the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Hospitals), Mr. G. Balasubramanian (Former Director, Academics, CBSE), Mr. Pavan Duggal (Advocate, Supreme Court) and many more.
Mr. Vinay Mahajan (Loknaad, Ahmedabad) used melodies, anecdotes and visuals to emphasise on the need to broaden the dimensions of our understanding of education of the marginalized and underprivileged.
The sessions were interactive and stirring, providing the teachers with a fruitful and meaningful learning opportunity.
