The Annual Summer Staff Seminar on the theme - “Creating Effective Learning Spaces- Connecting the Head, Heart and Hand" was organized in our school. The theme for this seminar was chosen to reflect on our collective direction as a community.

Welcoming the guests our Principal stated that while the 21st century requires a "culture of inquiry" for lifelong learning, the ethical and value dimension of learning holds the key to real and meaningful transformation.

In her keynote address, Mrs. Aruna Roy, noted activist, made an evocative case for the need for linking education with democratic processes for the well being of all people. During the two day seminar the teachers were addressed on a range of themes like 'Understanding a Child's World: The Joy of Doing' , 'Adolescent Spaces: Emotions and Expressions', 'Educating the Whole Child' by eminent speakers like Mrs. Getanjali Kumar (Counselor), Dr. Samir Parikh (Chief of the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Hospitals), Mr. G. Balasubramanian (Former Director, Academics, CBSE), Mr. Pavan Duggal (Advocate, Supreme Court) and many more.

Mr. Vinay Mahajan (Loknaad, Ahmedabad) used melodies, anecdotes and visuals to emphasise on the need to broaden the dimensions of our understanding of education of the marginalized and underprivileged.

The sessions were interactive and stirring, providing the teachers with a fruitful and meaningful learning opportunity.

Youth Leadership Summit (12-13 JULY 2012)
Workshop on ‘We are one but we are many’ by Mrs. Wattal

Ten schools from Delhi participated in the Youth Leadership Summit in which our Principal conducted a workshop for all the participants and teachers on the topic ‘We are one but we are Many’. Mr. Salman Khurshid,Hon’ble Minister of Law and Justice and Minority Affairs, the chief guest at the occasion urged the students to be torchbearers and help appreciate diversity.Our school team including Paridhi Rustogi, Aadya Chawla, Soumya Dabriwal and Rohan Talwar spoke and showed a presentation on Religious/Faith Discrimination.

A two day Annual Summer Staff Seminar was organized on the theme – “Making Learning Visible: The Role of School Communities”.

Welcoming the guests the Principal, stated that the quality of education is defined by the quality of learning environment and the role of adults therein. Faith in children, human relationships and belief systems is important in keeping the hope alive even in the face of adversity. The gathering then paid tribute to the memory of all those who perished in the Himalayan Tsunami in Uttarakhand.

Mr. Parnab Mukherjee, Director, Alternative Arts was the keynote speaker. He struck a chord with the audience with  a dramatic presentation title ‘Unbound’ which effectively demonstrated the reality of educational practices in classrooms across the country.

Addressing the theme – ‘Beyond Learning Spaces’, eminent panelists like Mr. Rajiv Lochan, Director – National Gallery of Modern Art, Ms. Lotty Aldaric, Senior Television Presenter, Mrs. Geetanjali Kumar (Counselor) and Ms. Vidushi Chaturvedi, Director – Education, NDMC emphasized on the need to engage the creative faculties of the students at all levels.

On the final day, Mrs. Ameeta Mulla Wattal, conducted an interactive session, ‘Know Your Impact’, as part of which she carried out self-reflective exercises for the staff.

Dr. Rajni Kumar, Chairperson, Springdales Education Society addressed the teachers in the valedictory session. The highly interactive and stirring seminar came to a close with the soulful renditions by renowned classical singer, Dr. Radhika Chopra.
